VISUCONSO: checking energy consumption to consume less

VISUCONSO is an educational device that enables the inhabitants of the Andre Malraux residence in Ecully to monitor and better control their electricity consumption, thanks to a secure internet portal and personalised support. Created by EDF and GrandLyon HABITAT in consultation with tenants, this innovative experiment, combined with thermal renovation work and actions that raise awareness of good energy use, enables the reduction of energy bills through advanced monitoring of heating and electricity consumption.

Households are identified by a network of people who raise the alarm. They then benefit from a socio-technical assessment at their home and are directed towards appropriate solutions (renovation assistance, social energy tariffs, budgetary advice, etc.).

In order to fight against fuel poverty, the Eco-Habitat Network is developing a support system for households in Picardy who face financial difficulty with the energy renovation project for their home. The objective is to provide solutions where problems can not be overcome by the users themselves through a cross-disciplinary action of mediation and coordination between field actors involved in fuel poverty and thermal renovation.

In 2010, as part of its Climate Air Plan, the Metropolis of Grenoble launched a package of support measures and financial aid to encourage collective residences and co-owned properties built between 1945 and 1975 to undertake thermal renovation. This program, supported by a local authority, aims to reduce energy consumption and emissions of greenhouse gas primarily within the housing sector.
